Q1. What is a game of Sepak Tak Raw?
Also called as Kick Volley Ball. A team game played on a small rectangular court with three players a side, to play a ball over a net erected across the court, using legs and other parts of body except hands.
Q2. What is the size of the court and at what height the net across is fixed?
Court: 44 feet x 20 feet divided into two halves. Net:(i) 5 feet at the center and 5'1'' at the ends for men; (ii) 4.8 feet at the center and 4'9'' at the ends for women.
Q3. What is the ball made of?
Traditionally hand woven or made of hard plastic to weigh around 250 grams.
Q4. How the game is played?
The ball is lobbed by hands (the only time it is touched by hand) to a player, from a semi circle drawn closer to the center posts, who inturn either sends it to the other court, or sends it to the third player who has to send it to the other court, through the use of mostly legs. The other team also does the same and returns it. The volley between the teams continue till the ball is either grounded or goes out of court. The best part of the game is the volley and the smash through leg, in which a player uses a bicycle kick to smash the ball into the opponents court and landing back on his legs again. The smash is executed with great force. The opponent team try to block the smash and the block are really a treat to watch. The game is popular in East Asian countries like Korea, Philippines, China, Japan and yet catch up with other countries. Not included in any events as yet.
Q5. What is the scoring pattern?
Like in volley ball, each team gets three chances to kick, knee, shoulder or head the ball to the opponents court, till a point is scored. The match consists of three sets of 15 points each and the team reaching 15 with two points difference, wins the set.
