3.DRONACHARYA AWARD:** Instituted in 1985 - for coaches Rs. Three Lac, a bronze Statue of Dronacharya Guru of Arjuna in Mahabharata and a scroll of honour.
O.M.Nambiar - PT.Usha's coach, Om Prakash Bharadwaj- Boxing coach, B.B.Bhagawat - Wrestling coach were the first to receive this award in 1985.

All the sports awards are awarded on 29th August every year, being the birth day of Dayan Chand the hockey legend and observed as National Sports Day.
