1. ARJUNA AWARD : Commenced in 1961. Carries a cash prize of 3 lakhs, a bronze statue of Arjuna and a scroll - Awarded by the Government of India for various disciplines.

O.M.Nambiar - PT.Usha's coach, Om Prakash Bharadwaj- Boxing coach, B.B.Bhagawat - Wrestling coach were the first to receive this award in 1985.

All the sports awards are awarded on 29th August every year, being the birth day of Dayan Chand the hockey legend and observed as National Sports Day.
