UNIQUE IDENTIFICATION AUTHORITY of INDIA: (www.uidai.gov.in)

Established in February 2009 for the purpose of issuing to all Indians an Unique Identification Card (biometric) with 12 digit numbers called "AADHAAR". This organization is headed by Vijay Madan, as Director General.. It is headquartered at Delhi.The first village to receive this UI Card was Tembhli, Nandurbar, in Maharashtra and the first person to receive this card is Rajana Sonawane of Tembhli village. MINISTRY OF TOURISM:

With 5000 years old history, naturally and geographically attractive, historically ruled by various cultured rulers, it is no wonder that our country has huge potential for tourism development. Average tourists arrival in our country is 5 million per year. In 2008, this industry had a turn over of 100 billion US dollars and is expected to grow to 275 billion USD by 2018. The Ministry is headed by Minister of State Shripad Yesso Naik  and has one Public Sector Undertaking: India Tourism Development Corporation: Established in 1966 - has about 17 Ashoka Group of Hotels and also few hospitality educational institutions. Each State has its own Tourism Development Corporations.

"Incredible India" is the name for the International Marketing Campaign of this Ministry, started from 2002.

WELFARE MEASURES:

1. Bharat Nirman: An plan for creating rural infrastructure to bridge the gap between the rural and urban areas. It comprises projects on irrigation, roads (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana), housing ( India Awaas Yojana), water supply, electrification and telecommunication connectivity.
2. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA): It is a job guarantee scheme enacted by legislation in August 2005. The scheme provides legal guarantee for one hundred days of employment in every financial year to adult members of any rural household willing to do public work related unskilled manual work at the statutory minimum wage per day. The Central Government has provided a budget support of Rs.40000 Cr in 2010-22.
3. National Rural Livelihood Mission: For tribal people, launched in June 2011.The project is to be implemented through Self Help Groups.
4. Swarna Jayanthi Gram Swarozgar Yojana: To created employment through SHGs and NGOs. A budgetary provision of Rs. 2984 Cr. was made in 2010-11.
5. Sampoorna Grameen Rozgaar Yojana: September 2001 - to provide employment to poor people living in rural areas of the country. It replaced the earlier Integrated Rural Development Programme. The expenditure is shared by the centre and the state in 75:25 ratio.
6. Pradhan Mantri Grama Sadak Yojana - 2000 - provide good all weather road connectivity to unconnected villages. Rs.12000 Cr was provided in 2010-11 budget.
7.SABLA - Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Adolescent Girls: November 2010 - As a pilot project in 200 most backward districts to address the nutiritional and special training aspects of girls between the age group of 11 to 18 years. Launched by Home Minister P. Chidambaram.
8. Self Help Groups: Village based financial intermediary usually composed of between 10-20 local women. SHGs are member based microfinance intermediaries inspired. SHGs are "linked" to banks for the delivery of microcredit.
9. Indra Awaas Yojana: 1985 - provide subsidies and cash assistance to people in villages to construct their houses themselves. Shared by the Centre and the states in 75:25 ratio and 90:10 in Eastern States. Rs.10000 Cr was provided in the 2010-2011 budget.
10. Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission - Launched in 2005 by the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh - It is a massive city modernization scheme to improve the quality of life and infrastructure in the cities. 65 cities have been chosen and the funding will vary from 35% to 90% . By 2009, 425 projects have been approved at a cost of Rs.440 billion.

MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS:

The Ministry is headed by Cabinet Minister Sushma Swaraj  assisted by General V.K.Singh. This ministry is responsible for the foreign Relations. Issue of Passports, Visas and Organizing of Haj Programmes comes under this ministry.

MINISTRY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EMPOWERMENT:

Headed by Cabinet Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot and assisted by Minister of State Sudarshan Bhagat.  This ministry is responsible for welfare, social justice and empowerment of disadvantaged and marginalized sections of society including scheduled castes and tribes, OBCs, the disabled and the elderly.

2. "Nai Talim" - a spiritual principle which states that knowledge and work are not separate. Gandhi promoted an educational curriculum with the same name based on this pedagogical principle.

4. National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development: 1982-- NABARD - Mumbai. Established on the recommendations of Shivaraman Committee and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Act of 1981. 5. National Institute of Rural Development: Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. Established to examine and analyse the factors contributing to the improvement of economic and social well being of people in rural areas on a sustainable basis with focus on the rural poor and the other disadvantaged groups through research, action research and consultancy efforts. 6. Regional Rural Banks: 1975 - Provide credit to the weaker sections of the rural areas, particularly the small and marginal farmers, agricultural labourers,artisands, and small entrepreneurs. There are about 14475 banks coming under NABARD. The Capital for these banks are shared at 50:15:35 ratio by centre,state and few nominated banks for this purpose.
7. Rural Institute for Developmental Education: 1984 - a secular dedicated institution to empower poor and disadvantaged residents in rural Tamilnadu.It fights to eradicate child labour, promotes economic and social justice for women,provides essential medial and educational services and cultivates economic opportunities throughout the region.
