Q5. What is a "Bout" in fencing?
An assault at which the score is kept in a competition. Each fencing bout, in a direction elimination round, for nine minutes in which the objective is to score 15 hits. The bout ends after 9 minutes even if the competitor has not been able to tally 15. It could also end earlier than nine minutes if the 15 hits are registered. In a preliminary pool, the parameters are three minutes or five hits. If the scores are even a sudden death hit, decides the winner.

STRIP: Also called a "Piste" the fencing area roughly 14 mtr length and 1.5 to 2m width.
PLASTROM: A partial garment worn under the jacket as padding for safety.
