HISTORY:
The State of Telengana was part of Andhra Pradesh before bifurcation. It was bifurcated as a separate state from 2nd June 2014. This region was primarily ruled by the Satavahanas and after its decline, it came under the rule of Chalukyas, Rashtrakutas and then Western Chalukyas. The region around Hyderabad was under the rule of Qutb Shahis, then by the Moghuls, then as Nizam Princely State under the British India. As the Nizam was reluctant to join India after independence, it was annexed by India in September 1948 and included in Andhra Pradesh.
The demand for a separate Telengana was made even as far back as 1953 when the reorganisation of states was taken up. The demand took some serious strides during 1969 and later on. It became a more serious movement later in 2009 and onwards and had to be considered around 2013 end. The Government of India accepted the demand and declared Telengana a separate state on 2nd June 2014.
