In the early 1820s, Burmese kingdom waged a war against this dynasty and tried to annex it. At that point, British offered help and defeated the Burmese and protected the dynasty. The war ended, Burmese conceding defeat, and signing the Treaty of Yandabo in 1826: resulting in the annexation by the Britishers. This war and treaty not only inflicted heavy casualities for the Burmese, but also drained them economically because of the heavy amount of compensation paid to the Britishers.
